Extended Itinerary of our 12 Sri Lanka Luxury Tour

  • Day 1

When you arrive for the luxury tour in Sri Lanka, a representative from THE VISIT LANKA will meet you at the Bandaranayake International Airport. He will be your private chauffeur and guide for the entire duration of your Sri Lanka round trip. You will then be driven to Negombo, where you will check in to your luxury hotel (Star class hotel or Villa) for an overnight stay.

Negombo is a coastal city near the airport. Most of the people in this city are fishermen by occupation. You can see many fishing boats in the sea. The city is 36km away from Colombo City. Certainly a nice place for a vacation. Negombo Beach, Browns Beach, and Morawala Beach are some of the famous tourist attractions in the Negombo area.

  • Day 2

After a healthy breakfast from your Negombo hotel, you will be driven to Sigiriya on the second day of your Sri Lanka luxury tour. We will be stopping in Dambulla to visit the famous Dambulla Cave Temple. It is one of the UNESCO world heritage sites in Sri Lanka. There are five major caves at this ancient temple. You can see many statues and ancient paintings in those caves. This cave temple has over 2000 years of history and is one of the most historically important places in the country. Dambulla Golden Temple is the newly built temple next to the Cave Temples where you can see modern architecture.

Thereafter, you will be driven directly to your luxury hotel in Sigiriya where you will have an opportunity to get some rest and relax. In the evening, you will be taken on a village safari. Here you see the real charm of Sri Lankan village life. This also includes bullock cart rides and so many other traditional activities. You will have a great opportunity to capture many interesting and wonderful photos during these visits. After the village tour, you will come to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

  • Day 3

On the third day of your Sri Lanka Luxury Tour, you will visit Polonnaruwa and Minneriya National Parks. It is a nice opportunity to explore Sri Lanka’s wildlife and culture.

Polonnaruwa was the second kingdom in Sri Lankan history after the Anuradhapura Kingdom. It survived from the 10th century to the 13th century for over three centuries. King Vijayabahu I, King Parakramabahu I, and King Nissankamalla were the three great rulers of the kingdom of Pollonnaruwa. It was destroyed in 1215 AD by a South Indian attacker, Kalinga Maga’. Polonnaruwa ancient city is one of the eight UNESCO world heritage sites in Sri Lanka. Today, you can see ancient temples, stratues, buildings, and many kinds of ruins there. Gal Viharaya, Hatadage, Vatadage, Rankoth Vehera, and Nissanka Latha Manadapaya are the must-visit places in Polonnaruwa.

After that, you can experience an amazing and authentic Sri Lankan rice and curry meal! Thereafter, you will be driven to the Minneriya National Park for a safari tour.

Minneriya National Park is one of the major national parks in Sri Lanka with an area of 889 ha. It is a fabulous place to watch Sri Lankan elephants. During the months of May to October, a group of 150–300 elephants congregates near the Minneriya Tank. It is the best time to visit this national park.  At the conclusion of the Minneriya safari, you will be driven back to your luxury hotel in Sigiriya for an overnight stay.

  • Day 4

After a delicious breakfast, you will be driven to the famous Sigiriya Rock, where you will have an opportunity to climb to the top of this ancient rock fortress. The height of the Sigiriya Rock is 180m. According to Sri Lankan history, this was the Kingdom of King Kashayapa (5th Century AD). He has controlled his kingdom from here. The gardens, water technology, and ancient paintings are wonderful to watch. The ruins of the King’s Palace can be observed on the top of Sigiriya. This is another UNESCO world heritage site in Sri Lanka and, furthermore, it is considered the 8th wonder of the world. You can also see a beautiful picture from the top of the rock too.

Sigiriya Rock is not hard to climb. There are about 1,200 steps to the summit. That’s roughly equivalent to climbing 60 flights of stairs. Depending on your fitness, crowds, and level of interest, it will take about 45 minutes to an hour to reach the top.

Also, if you cannot climb this fortress, we will take you around the rock by car, so you will have a nice experience and get photos too. You should note that we will especially care for the elderly and will provide a helper for them.

Thereafter, you will be driven to the famous and beautiful city of Kandy. A visit to a spice garden is planned along the way. Thereafter, you will be driven directly to a luxury hotel in Kandy for an overnight stay. You should note that we will provide luxury and comfortable vehicles for the whole day.

  • Day 5

After a sumptuous breakfast at the hotel, you will have a great opportunity to explore the city of Kandy. You will be driven to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic in the morning and the Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya. Later in the evening, you will be driven to watch a fantastic traditional Sri Lankan dance event.

Kandy is the capital city of the Central Province of Sri Lanka. It is surrounded by the beautiful Hanthana Mountain Range. The elevation of the city is 447m above sea level. Kandy is well-known throughout the world for housing the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. It is the place where the relic of the tooth of Lord Buddha was established. Kandy Esala Perahera is a religious festival that is held every year in honor of the Tooth Relic. Annually, thousands of devotees come to Kandy to visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic.

Peradeniya Botanical Garden is situated 6km from Kandy City. It is another nice place to visit around the corner. The garden is famous for its 4,000+ species of plant life, including spices, medicine plants, and orchids. This is the largest botanical garden in the country, covering 147 ha.

  • Day 6

After a good breakfast, you will be driven to Nuwara Eliya according to your Sri Lanka Luxury Tour Itinerary. On the way to Nuwara Eliya, you will have an opportunity to view some beautiful waterfalls and tea plantations. If a train is available at the time of your arrival at the station, you can enjoy a breathtaking train ride to Ella. If not, you will be driven to Ella by car. You will spend the night in Ella.

The Kandy to Nuwara Eliya route is scenic with greenish tea plantations. You will be able to visit a tea estate and a tea factory. There you can observe how the famous Ceylon tea is plucked and processed.

Nuwara Eliya is a beautiful, hilly city with an elevation of 1881m. Its friendly climate always attracts people to the city. There are so many nice places to visit. Nanu Oya railway station is not far from there. The train ride from Nanu Oya to Ella is a fantastic journey with magnificent views.

  • Day 7

After a good breakfast, we will visit the Nine Arch Bridge in Demodara. The Nine Arches Bridge, also called the Bridge in the Sky, is a viaduct bridge in Sri Lanka. It is one of the best examples of colonial-era railway construction in the country. We are going to reach the place through a bit of a jungle-like road. If you can not go by walking through the jungle, then we can go by tuk-tuk to a nearby location.

The second place you will be visiting is Little Adams Peak. It is 1141m high and is fairly easy to climb, with a good path all the way up. The trip took us about 2-3 hours in total (including picture taking). At the end of this visit, you can have lunch in Ella town, which we recommend. After lunch, we will drive back to your comfortable hotel for an overnight stay.

  • Day 8

After an enjoyable breakfast, you will be driven to Tissamaharama to visit the famous Yala National Park. Along the way, you will have an opportunity to view the beautiful waterfall named Rawana Falls. It is one of the widest waterfalls in the country, with 25m of height. The special feature of this place is that it connects with the epic tale of Ramayanaya.

Once you arrive at the hotel, you can have your lunch, and thereafter you will be driven to the Yala National Park for a safari tour. Yala National Park is the second largest wildlife sanctuary in Sri Lanka, with an area of 978 sq.km. It is famous for its leopard watching. As well, this is a perfect spot to watch birds, elephants, sloth bears, buffalo, and spotted deer.

After a fabulous and enjoyable safari trip, you will be driven back to the hotel where you can rest and spend time at your leisure in a comfortable manner. You will spend the night in Tissamaharama.

  • Day 9

According to your Sri Lanka luxury tour itinerary, you will travel from Yala to Mirissa on this day. After breakfast in Yala, you will move on to explore the gorgeous combination of sun, sand, and water of Sri Lanka. Mirissa Beach’s breathtaking sandy beach pretty much transforms your dreams and visions of a tropical paradise into an everyday reality. This small, sandy tropical beach boasts some of Sri Lanka’s best and most stunning sunsets and sunrises. One part of the Mirissa beach is ideal for surfing. Therefore, you can enjoy it there with many water activities. Coconut Tree Hills is a nice spot to visit in Mirissa. Your overnight stay will be at a luxury hotel in Mirissa.

  • Day 10:  

On the 10th day of your Sri Lanka luxury tour, you will have an opportunity to go on a whale and dolphin-watching expedition in Mirissa. This will be one of the most exciting water activities you will experience in Sri Lanka during your holiday. Mirissa is known as the best place to start your whale and dolphin-watching tour in Sri Lanka.

Blue whales are considered the largest animals on the globe. You will be lucky to see those giants during this tour. As well, you can watch sperm whales, fin whales, killer whales, dolphins, whale sharks, and pilot whales. Normally, the tour will start early in the morning and take around 3-5 hours. You can see how dolphins swim with your boat. The massive jumping of the blue whales will definitely amaze you. November to April is the best season for whale watching in Mirissa. You will be staying in Mirissa on that day as well.

  • Day 11

After a delicious breakfast, we will travel to Galle. On the way, you will have an opportunity to visit Galle City and its Galle Fort, in the Bay of Galle on the southwest coast of Sri Lanka. It was first built in 1588 by the Portuguese and then extensively fortified by the Dutch during the 17th century from 1649 onwards. Today, it is another UNESCO world heritage site in Sri Lanka. You can walk inside or around the Dutch fort. It is a nice place to take some photos and enjoy the sea breeze of the Indian Ocean.

After the Dutch fort, drive to Bentota. It is a resort town on Sri Lanka’s southwest coast. The long Bentota Beach stretches north, where it becomes a sandy strip known as Paradise Island, parallel to Bentota Lagoon. There are so many places to visit in Bentota. Furthermore, it is a great place for water activities.

After checking into the star-class luxury hotel, you have the opportunity to visit the Turtle Conservation and Hatchery site, followed by a boat ride on the Madu River with a chance to experience a massage given by the fish in a small river.

Thereafter, we will be back at your luxury hotel and have an opportunity to spend time leisurely in a relaxed atmosphere. The hotel will arrange your dinner itself. Your last night will be at Bentota.

  • Day 12

This is the departure date according to your Sri Lanka Luxury Tour Itinerary. There are no planned activities for this day. After your breakfast at the hotel, you will be driven to Bandaranaike International Airport in time to catch your flight according to the time of the departure of your flight (at least 2-3 hours before your flight), bringing to a conclusion this wonderful and comfortable tour.
