Day 1 – Sigiriya
The Visit Lanka Tours Representative will warmly welcome you for Sri Lanka 10 Days Itinerary at the Katunayaka Bandaranayaka Airport. Next, we will travel to your hotel in Sigiriya. The representative will work with you as your chauffeur for the entire tour. At the Sigiriya hotel, you will spend the whole day leisurely.
Day 02 – Anuradhapura / Mihintale
After your breakfast in the Sigiriya Hotel, we will travel to the sacred cities of Anuradhapura and Mihintale on this day. Those are the first two destinations on your 10-day tour of Sri Lanka.
Anuradhapura was the first capital in Sri Lanka’s history. The kingdom survived for almost 1500 years, from the 5th century BC to the 10th century AD. The remnants of that kingdom can still be seen in the ancient city of Anuradhapura. We will visit Atamasthana, the eight sacred places, during this visit.
Mihintale is another important place in Sri Lankan history. It was the place where Arahath Mihindu Thero first landed in Sri Lanka. During the reign of King Devanampiyathissa in the third century BC, Thero introduced Buddhism to Sri Lanka.
After visiting those two sites, we will return to your hotel in Sigiriya for the remainder of your stay.
Day 03 – Sigiriya to Pollonnaruwa
On the third day of your 10 day tour, we will travel to Polonnaruwa. It is the second capital in Sri Lanka’s history. The kingdom lasted two centuries, from the 11th to the 13th centuries AD. You can also see that historical ruin today.
Following our visit to the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, we will proceed to a delicious traditional Sri Lankan meal. Following that, we will go on a safari tour to Minneriya National Park. It is a place with abundant wildlife and one of the best places to watch Sri Lankan elephants.
After the safari, we will come back again to the Sigiriya hotel to finish the day.
Day 04 – Sigiriya to Kandy
On this day, after breakfast, we will visit and climb the famous Sigiriya Rock Fortress. It is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Sri Lanka. Sigiriya is actually a wonderful place where you can see beautiful gardens, paintings, a mirror wall, and an ancient palace. The urban technology, water technology, and architecture priorities show the talent of the ancient Sri Lankans. From the top of the rock, you can also see a beautiful view of the surrounding area.
Next, we will travel to Dambulla Cave Temple. It is another UNESCO World Heritage Site in Sri Lanka. This temple has numerous strata, paintings, and caves. After that, we will visit the Spice Garden to watch different spices that grow in Sri Lankan soils.
Later, we will come to your hotel in Kandy to finish the 4th day of your 10 day itinerary.
Day 05 – Tour of Kandy City
We will travel to the best attractions in Kandy City after a delicious breakfast at the hotel. First, we will visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic, a significant place for Buddhists all around the globe. The location where the Lord Buddha’s left canine has been established is significant.
Our next visiting location is Peradeniya Botanic Garden. It is the country’s largest botanical garden, with stunning garden technology. You can watch around 4000 plant species on there, including many beautiful flowers. Then we will take you to a shopping place of your choice. Later, we will attend the Kandy Cultural Dance Show. It is a beautiful ceremony with many Sri Lankan cultural dances.
We will finally come to your Kandy hotel for dinner and finish the day.
Day 06 – Kandy to Ella through Nuwara Eliya
After an enjoyable breakfast, we will travel to Ella from Kandy on this day. Along the way, you will stop in a few places before reaching Nuwara Eliya. We will first stop near a beautiful waterfall called “Ramboda Ella.” Then you will visit a tea factory and its estate. There, you can see how the famous Ceylon tea is made.
Next, you will come to Nuwara Eliya city. It has a cool climate and is one of the country’s highest-elevation cities. You will visit Gregory Lake and the old post office in the city. Thereafter, you will visit Nanu Oya’s railway station to travel to Ella by train. Our chauffeur will catch you at the Ella railway station, and we will come to your Ella hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 07 – Ella to Yala National Park
After a delicious breakfast in the Ella hotel, we will visit Nine Arch Bridge in the morning. It is a large bridge that was built by the British in the early 20th century. The specialty behind that bridge is that it was made with zero iron or steel. Thereafter, you will hike to Ella Little Adams Peak. It is a nice little mountain with a stunning view.
Next we will travel from Ella to Tissamaharama. Ravana Ella is a beautiful waterfall that you will meet along the route. It is a 25-meter-high waterfall with a story that combines the epic story of Ravana.
You will come to Tissamaharama in the midafternoon and do an afternoon safari to Yala National Park. The national park is considered the second-largest national park in the country. It is the best place to see leopards and other wild animals in Sri Lanka.
Later, we will come to the Tissamaharama hotel for dinner and spend the night.
Day 08 – Tissamaharamaya to Mirissa
After an enjoyable breakfast in the Tissamaharama hotel, we will travel to Mirissa. The city is a famous tourist attraction in southern Sri Lanka. There you will visit Mirissa Beach and the Coconut Tree Hills. Thereafter, you will come to your Mirissa hotel to end the eighth day of your 10 days itinerary in Sri Lanka.
Day 09 – Mirissa
After a delicious breakfast in the Mirissa Hotel, the itinerary has planned a whale-watching tour for you. It is a great opportunity for you to explore marine wildlife in the Indian Ocean. You can watch different kinds of whales, including blue whales and sperm whales. As well, you will be lucky to watch dolphins and other marine animals during this tour.
After the tour, you will spend the rest of the day in a very relaxing way. You will spend the night at the Mirissa Hotel.
Day 10 – Departure
There is no itinerary planned for this day, and this is your departure day. Our chauffeur will safely drop you off at the Katunayake Bandaranayake Airport before the next 2-3 hours of your flight. That will end your Sri Lanka 10 Days Itinerary with us.
