Day 01 – Airport to Pinnawala and Kandy
Based on the time of your arrival, we will drive you to the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. If not we will discuss with you of other available options and plans for the immediate future.
The Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage provides visitors with the best chance of seeing a large number of elephants at close quarters. The orphanage was established in 1975 and had only seven orphaned elephants when it first began its operations.
Assisted by locals and foreigners who were experts on the growth and behavior patterns of elephants, the Pinnawala orphanage commenced a successful captive breeding programme and the first baby elephant was born in 1984. The best and the most interesting to visit is at feeding time to see the baby elephants being bottle fed and the entire herd taken for a bath thereafter to the river nearby.
Day 01 – Kandy to Nuwara Eliya
After a sumptuous breakfast at the hotel, we will visit the Temple of the tooth and the Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya and thereafter drive to Nuwara Eliya.
The Royal Botanical Gardens, Peradeniya attracts 2 million visitors annually. It is renowned for its collection of orchids. The garden includes more than 4000 species of plants, including orchids, spices, medicinal plants and palm trees. The total area of the botanical garden is 147 acres (0.59 km2).
Thereafter along the way to Nuwara Eliya, a visit to a tea plantation and a tea factory is planned. This is where the best tea in the world is produced. Upon your visit you will observe how the quality of tea is graded and also have a walk-through of the manufacturing process. The highlight of your visit will be enjoying the taste of a cup of pure Ceylon tea in the factory.
Day 03 – Nuwara Eliya to Bentota
You will be driven from Nuwara Eliya to Bentota.
Along the way and at your request, a whitewater rafting adventure can be arranged. If not, you will be driven to your hotel in Bentota.
At Bentota, you will have this day to spend at your leisure.
Day 04 – Bentota
After a good breakfast, we can visit the nearby water spots. A river boat safari on the beautiful Madu river and thereafter a visit to the Turtels Hatchery with a “massage” by fish in a local water spot is also arranged for your enjoyment.
The many hatcheries that are operated locally, provide a safe haven for these sea turtles. You may an option of visiting these hatcheries to have a look at many huge tanks filled with new born turtles who, once grown, are released to the sea.
Day 05 – Bentota to Negambo
On the 5th day, we will have a late departure from the hotel to Negombo, which is the closest city to the International Airport.
You will spend the night in Negombo.
Day 06 – Negombo to Airport
Based on the time of your flight departure, your friendly chauffer will safely drop you off at the Bandaranaike International Airport in time for your flight (at least 2-3 hours before your flight).
